Governor Andy Beshear is scheduled to make a stop at Trigg County High School next week to deliver a check for the renovation of the vocational school.
Trigg County Public Schools spokeswoman Sarah Elliott announced Monday morning that Beshear will be at Trigg County High School on Thursday afternoon, November 4, at 4:00 to present a check for the vocational grant that the school received.
The Trigg County Board of Education first approved a $10 million grant application in July. Then at the September 16th school board meeting, board members accepted the $10 million grant awarded from the Kentucky General Assembly under Local Area Vocational Center legislation. The board also named Sherman Carter Barnhart as the architect of the renovation project at that meeting.
During the September 16 the meeting, Director of Operations Matt Ladd stated the tentative plan would be to release initial print plans around April 4, 2022 — just before spring break — to allow time for an empty walkthrough of the vocational building, and then accept bids for the next month.
The current project manager with Sherman, Carter and Barnhart, Andrew Owens then said once bids were accepted by the board, renovations could begin theoretically by next summer, with full completion expected just before the start of the 2023-24 school year.
According to Elliott, the check presentation ceremony at Trigg County High School will be in front of the main entrance of the vocational building. She says masks will be required for the ceremony.
