Christian County Health Department Receives Clean Audit

The Christian County Board of Health heard an audit review of the health department and the taxing district at Monday night’s quarterly meeting.

click to download audioAnd he added the financial statements were presented fairly as of June 2021.

Fisher said the financial statement ending June 30, 2021, the health department had over $5.17 million in cash which he noted was down about $300,000 from June 30, 2020, due to a renovation expense.

click to download audioHe also stated the Taxing District received a clean opinion with the balance sheet showing about $4 million in cash investments which is up approximately $650,000. He also noted the tax revenues were up about $73,000 compared to fiscal year 2020.

The audit report was unanimously approved by the health board.

In other business, interim Executive Director Devin Brumfield gave an update on the Building Committee report and noted renovation to the health department has been completed.

click to download audioHe said the board previously approved a contract with Swift Roofing to replace the building’s roof and they were given a notice to proceed the last week of August and they are still getting everything set up with manufacturers. He added the total cost is nearly $32,000 above the previously estimated cost of the project.

click to download audioAnd health board chairman, Dr. Joe Dempsey said the search for a new executive director at the health department got delayed due to the recent surge of COVID-19, but he added they are close to moving forward with the search to fill the position.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Christian County Board of Health will be Monday evening, January 24, 2022, at 5:30.
