Beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Hopkinsville Electric Service will be performing system maintenance that will require a power outage for an area around the Justice Center in Christian County.
This includes parts of West Second, Seventh and Ninth streets, and the outage should last between 3-and-4 hours. Should no issues arise in the systems upgrade, power should be restored by 10 p.m. Tuesday.
With cooler November temperatures expected, HES officials are recommending residents heat their houses more than normal prior to the outage, and the customers should not open refrigerators or freezers — in order to keep cold foods cold during this time.
The outage is necessary, officials add, in order to perform this system maintenance to what is the distribution system of the affected area.
