The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Freeze Watch in effect from late Wednesday night through Thursday morning with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 degrees likely across western Kentucky.
Meteorologists say the frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
As a precaution, you may want to protect your tender plants from the cold by bringing them inside if possible. You also need to make sure your outdoor water pipes are wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. If you have in-ground sprinkler systems, you also drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
