Hopkinsville Parade And Proclamation Honor Veterans

A nice crowd of community members lined 9th Street Saturday morning to show honor and respect for veterans during the annual Veterans Honor Parade.

The parade include a number of veterans, a military unit from Fort Campbell, ROTC units from Fort Campbell, Christian County, and Hopkinsville High Schools, bands from Hopkinsville and Christian County, and a number of first responder vehicles.

Following the parade the crowd gathered in front of the Christian County Justice Center for the honor and proclamation ceremony. With the Hopkinsville Fire Department hanging the large flag over the entrance to the justice center parking lot, Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch reflected on the significance of the flag.

click to download audioThe Junior ROTC Challenge was won by Hopkinsville High School. The School Spirit Challenge was won by Sts. Peter and Paul, who had the most students and staff on hand for the parade.
