Bond Reduction Denied For Reckless Homicide Suspect

A Hopkinsville man charged in connection to a deadly crash in December 2019 that claimed the life of a Cerulean mother and her 11-year old daughter appeared in Christian County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon for a pretrial conference and motion to reduce bond.

35-year old Robert Jackson was indicted in September 2020 on two counts of reckless homicide and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. He appeared virtually from the Christian County Jail with his defense attorney, Allison Mohon and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Bolen appearing in the courtroom before Judge Andrew Self.

Mohon said the hearing was a revisit of the motion to reduce bond she filed a few weeks ago. She argued Jackson’s parole officer was on Zoom and could testify to his behavior after the accident. She also said her client is scheduled for surgery and he is not a danger to the community.

Jackson’s charges are in connection to a two-vehicle wreck on December 23, 2019, in which Christian County Sheriff’s deputies reported he crossed the center line on Princeton Road and hit a truck driven by 32-year old Misty Quarles of Cerulean.

According to deputies, 34-year old Marcus Quarles and a juvenile were taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. Jackson, Misty Quarles and her daughter, Alexia Trump, were flown to Nashville hospitals where Quarles and Trump died from their injuries.

Judge Self set another pretrial conference for December 15th.
