Less than six months after hearing its 2019-20 audit from Calhoun & Company, the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourist & Convention Commission were served some good news Tuesday afternoon, when CPA Debbie Fuller revealed a profit of nearly $131,000 over the last fiscal year.
Fuller noted the commission tallied nearly $637,000 in total revenue — with 73% of that coming from restaurant taxes, and 25% of that coming from transient room taxes.
Total costs, Fuller added, included nearly $506,000 — with 36% of that coming from advertising costs, which were down in a year filled with COVID-19 concerns and considerations.
During June’s meeting, Fuller reported a net loss of $40,924 for the 2019-20 fiscal year, meaning a
$131,000 profit comes out to a nearly $170,000 flip in a positive direction — and in what could be a sign of fiscal regrouping following the coronavirus and its complications in local, regional and national travel.

On November 20, the Mingle & Jingle Open House Event will fill that Saturday, in a partnership with the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce.
Traditional Shop Small Saturday is planned for November 27.
And December 4 is jam-packed, with the Fine Arts & Crafts Show at the Lake Barkley State Resort Park from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., “Magical Characters on Main Street” from 4-5 p.m., the Festival of Trees following at the Janice Mason Art Museum, and the Cadiz Christmas Parade set for 6 p.m. to close the day.
