The Republican primary for the Christian County Fiscal Court District 7 seat has its second candidate as Russ Guffey filed his papers with the county clerk Friday.
Guffey has been active in many civic and church groups in Hopkinsville, serving as president of the Hopkinsville Rotary Club and serving on the board of the Hopkinsville Community College Foundation, Christian County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Hopkinsville-Christian County, and the Association of the U.S. Army.
Guffey, a local businessman, says he is wholly invested in the local business sector and has a desire to serve politically and use his interpersonal skills, creativity, and business acumen to help others.
Guffey joins school board member Mike Walker in seeking the Republican nod for the seat that opened up when current District 7 Magistrate Jerry Gilliam filed to run for county judge-executive.
