Trigg County continues to have one of the highest COVID-19 incidence rates in western Kentucky for the month of November.
According to information released by the Pennyrile District Health Department, 29 new cases of COVID-19 were added since last Thursday in Trigg County. For the month, there have been 84 cases reported which averages to 5.2 per day. 32-percent of the November cases involve children 18 and under while 23-percent involve people 31 to 50.
Trigg County’s incidence rate on Tuesday was 35.1 per 100,000 population, making it a ‘red’ county and one of the highest in western Kentucky.
The state introduced an incidence rate map in September of 2020 that takes the average number of new cases over a seven-day period and normalizes it per 100,000 population. A seven-day average of 25 or more cases means the county is labeled a ‘red’ county or critical for outbreak purposes.
Trigg County has been a ‘red’ county every day in November except for November 12th.
While the numbers don’t compare well to surrounding counties, a sliver of good news is that Trigg County’s COVID cases are on track to drop for a second straight month. There were 421 COVID-19 cases in Trigg County in September and 179 in October. The county is on track for 158 this month.
