Acree Files For Sheriff, Calhoun Files For Magistrate

Trigg County Clerk Carmen Finley reported two new filings for the 2022 Election Friday afternoon, including one incumbent.

Sheriff Aaron Acree notes he wants to continue to provide professional service to the community of Trigg County, and has appreciated the overall support he’s been receiving in recent weeks. Since his first appointment, Acree adds he’s been blessed and honored to serve in different ways, and wants to continue to do so.

Acree is the first entrant into the 2022 Trigg County Sheriff’s race.

Furthermore, Finley reported Billy Calhoun has filed for what’s becoming a heated and competitive District 6 race for magistrate. Calhoun, a Republican, is the third such candidate who has announced for a seat currently held by Larry Lawrence, as Dennis Whitten and Michael Anderson have also filed for the primary.

Four incumbent magistrates — Jeff Broadbent in District 4, Mike Wright in District 1, Mike Lane in District 7 and Barry Littlejohn in District 2 — have also filed to try and return to their posts.
