The Christian County Chamber of Commerce and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce have very similar agendas for the 2022 Legislative Session. At the Chamber Eye Opener Breakfast Tuesday morning, both chambers talked about infrastructure and taxes. State Chamber CEO, Ashli Watts says they will be encouraging legislators to approve eliminating the income tax.
She adds this will most likely involve a multi-year plan to accomplish. The State Chamber has been using the 2020 Census to craft goals and look at ways to improve the business climate to include the workforce.
Watts hopes to see that number increase by increased trainings and certificates to go along with post secondary education degrees. Infrastructure is also a priority for the state chamber as they look to bring in additional businesses.
In Christian County, the Chamber Governmental Affairs Committee is pushing for several road projects.
Committee Chair Tracey Clark adds the hope is to secure federal funds for the projects. They will also be supporting a bill by Representative Walker Thomas.
The Christian County Chamber released a survey Tuesday (today) asking for input on what the legislative prirorities should be for 2022. The deadline to weigh in is December 17.
