New Hopkinsville Middle School Principal Named

Hopkinsville Middle School Principal Nicole Poindexter

Christian County Public Schools announced Tuesday that Nicole Poindexter has been hired as principal of Hopkinsville Middle School.

School district Superintendent Chris Bentzel says they are excited to have Poindexter as the principal at HMS. He went on to say Poindexter’s student development skills are second to none. He says she is an ALL IN leader to help the district’s middle school students reach their fullest potential.

School officials say Poindexter began her teaching career in Christian County Public Schools as a special education teacher at Belmont Elementary School. She later served the Christian County Board of Education as a guidance counselor before being hired as the assistant principal at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School. She later was appointed as an assistant principal at Hopkinsville High School and most recently has been serving as the interim principal at Hopkinsville Middle School.

Poindexter says she is thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve Hopkinsville Middle School. She added that she looks forward to preparing the school’s students for the future by building a collective culture of collaboration where teachers, students, and parents are supported, respected and valued. Poindexter says she is committed to this community and she will bring that commitment, care and dedication to work with her every day for the benefit of students, families and staff of HMS.

As the HMS principal, Poindexter will be responsible for the middle school’s teaching process and learning climate, school performance on state and national assessment standards, school guidelines for student conduct and discipline, school staff evaluations, school programs, supervision of school extracurricular activities, school budges and school community relates. She will report directly to the school district’s superintendent.
