13 Confirmed Dead, More than 100 Missing in Dawson Springs

The death toll in Dawson Springs from Friday night’s tornado is now 13 after two more were confirmed on Sunday with more than 100 people unaccounted for.

Governor Andy Beshear’s father and former Governor Steve Beshear is a Dawson Springs native. The current governor toured the damage over the weekend and was quite emotional at what he witnessed.

click to download audioDawson Springs High School on Eli Street is being used as a resource point for people to bring supplies as well as a shelter and feeding service. Beshear said he has sent equipment there to help.

click to download audioThe governor also said state parks in western Kentucky are being used to house people who have lost their homes, including Pennyrile Forest State Park and Lake Barkley State Resort Park.
