Georgia Church Raises $30K For Christmas In Caldwell, Lyon, Hopkins

One out-of-state church is making sure the kids of Caldwell, Lyon and Hopkins counties — having recently experienced a disastrous and destructive storm — will still have a Very Merry Christmas.

In a recently-formed partnership with Macedonia Baptist Church in Kuttawa, officials from Faith Baptist Church in Bowman reached out and made contact with Lyon County Judge-Executive Wade White and Lyon County Finance Officer Krista Grigg — seeking out information on the needs of families in the area.

Grigg said it all happened through a friend of a friend of a friend, but didn’t know anyone from this random act of kindness. Following a conversation this past weekend, however, Grigg said the Georgian congregation immediately raised more than $30,000 for Christmas shopping — and on Monday delivered another special gift to Lyon County residents.

From now until the week of Christmas, Grigg and White are asking for families to either call (270) 625-6672 or email kristagrigg@gmail.com the following information: your name, your place of residence at this time, your telephone number, your name/age/gender of your children, and whether someone can pick up your gifts or need them delivered.

Grigg also noted a small list of gift ideas is even appropriate, and from there, Faith Baptist Church families will take care of the rest.

These Christmas gifts will be available for those who are 17 and under, and the hope is to be able to provide for up to 250 children in the tri-county area.

Macedonia Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church are seven hours, and 443 miles, apart — now together in hope and faith.
