Two Charged After High-Speed Pursuit In Christian County

A pursuit that started on Glass Avenue at North Drive in Hopkinsville ended on Quisenberry Lane Wednesday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop 26-year-old Terry Cantrell Jr. of Hopkinsville after the vehicle he was driving was found to have been stolen out of Illinois.

He reportedly fled at speeds of over 100 mph turning onto US 68 then Quisenberry Lane.

Police say the pursuit ended when he turned down an old gravel road and Christian County sheriff’s deputies used a pursuit intervention technique to stop the vehicle.

A handgun was reportedly found in the driver’s side floorboard after the pursuit was over.

Cantrell was found to have a warrant for first-degree fleeing or evading police and reckless driving stemming from a pursuit in Hopkinsville on December 6th, when he reportedly fled from police at a high rate of speed before getting the vehicle stuck in a field on Cox Mill Road and fleeing on foot.

Cantrell and his passenger 29-year-old Shawn Ellis of Hopkinsville were both arrested Wednesday morning and charged with receiving stolen property. Cantrell was also charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, operating on a suspended or revoked license, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
