Pembroke Elementary Will Reopen January 10

Officials from Christian County Public Schools announced Tuesday that the plan is to reopen Pembroke Elementary School for in-class instruction Monday, January 10.

Currently, it remains closed for repairs in the wake of storms that ran through west Kentucky and northwest Tennessee December 10 and 11.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel said the school community is thankful for citizens and industry partners coming together to help reopen Pembroke safely and swiftly. ServPro began removing water from the school December 11, and Swift Roofing Company affixed a temporary roof 72 hours after the storms hit.

Pembroke faculty and staff will return to the school on January 4 to prepare their school and classrooms for students to return. Bentzel added that technology devices, classroom furniture and learning materials will be reallocated to the unaffected rooms and areas within the elementary school prior to students returning to Pembroke.

CCPS administrators are awaiting a decision from the Kentucky Department of Education regarding Kentucky students being required to make up the school days missed due to the storms.

Families with specific questions should reach out to the Pembroke Elementary office.
