Two Republicans have filed for the Ward 2 seat on Hopkinsville City Council as candidate filings pick up ahead of Friday's likely deadline.
Republicans Bruce Smiley and Josh Turner are the first two candidates to file for the seat currently held by Kimberly McCarley.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Foster filed for county attorney as an independent. To date, he is the only person to file for the office held by John Soyars, who announced in November he was not seeking another term. Soyars was appointed to fill the remainder of the term of former County Attorney and Lincoln's father Mike Foster who retired.
In other filings, Bill Chaudoin, Jr. filed for county surveyor, and Matthew Newton and Joshua Newton filed for constable in District 8. Matthew is a Republican, and Joshua is a Democrat.
