Former Christian County Sheriff Bill Dillard is being remembered for his dedication to the staff and the community.
The Christian County Sheriff's Department noted Dillard's passing this week.
Dillard made history in 1981 by defeating Tommy Simpson to become the first African American Sheriff in Kentucky. He also was the first African American deputy to serve with the Christian County Sheriff's Department.
The Christian County Sheriff's Department says Dillard was respected by his employees, coworkers, and the community. Dillard will be remembered for the dedication and hard work he gave to the people during his years as a Deputy and Sheriff.
