A resolution may come as early as Monday in the case of a juvenile charged with murder in connection to an October shooting on Fairview Drive in Hopkinsville.
16-year old Richard Rawlins Jr. is accused of fatally shooting 19-year old Alex Updegrove at least one time at a home near Nelson Drive on October 4th. He was indicted as an adult by a Christian County grand jury on November 19th.
Rawlins appeared virtually from the jail and Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling appeared via Zoom before Christian Circuit Court Judge Andrew Self.
Public defenders, Munroe Graham, and Rick Sandborn who are assigned to represent Rawlins say they are close to a resolution and asked for a hearing to be set next week.

Hopkinsville Police said Updegrove and Rawlins were inside a Nelson Drive home when Rawlins threatened to kill him and then shot him. Rawlins then reportedly fled the area before officers arrived. Updegrove was pronounced dead at the scene by the Christian County Coroner’s Office.
Rawlins was arrested by police the day after the shooting and charged with murder. He remains in state custody.
