Larry Curling Files For 8th District State Representative Seat

Judge-Executive Larry Curling

Another Republican candidate has entered the race for the 8th District state representative seat. Caldwell County Judge-Executive Larry Curling filed his paperwork in Frankfort on Monday to run for the seat in the May primary election.

Curling tells News Edge that he has been in public service most of his life as a teacher, coach and administrator with the local school system. In addition, Curling says he has served eight years in local government — four years as a magistrate and four years as judge-executive.

Curling says he decided to run for the 8th District State Representative seat because he understands the needs of the people, and he wants to be a voice for the people in Caldwell County and portions of Christian and Trigg counties.

Curling announced at the November 23rd fiscal court meeting that he would not seek a second term as judge-executive because he wanted to retire. At that time, Curling said one of the reasons he was not running for another term was because he didn’t have the energy level to serve as judge-executive. However, Curling explains he has the energy needed to serve as the 8th District’s state representative.

If elected, Curling says he will do everything he can to voice the people’s needs in Frankfort —  from roads to internet service in rural areas.

Curling says he looks forward to the race and serving the people of the 8th District.

Curling and incumbent 8th District State Representative Walker Thomas will meet in the May 17th Republican primary election. Pam Dossett is running unopposed on the Democratic ticket for the 8th District seat and will meet the top vote-getter in the Republican primary in the November general election.
