Four local residents have been appointed by Governor Andy Beshear to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 56th Judicial Circuit and District.
Governor Andy Beshear appointed Terrie White of Eddyville, Donnie Holland of Cadiz, and Michael Oliver and Phillip Sisk, both of Princeton.
White, Holland, and Sisk are retired and Oliver is an automobile dealer at Wildcat Chevrolet in Cadiz. They will serve a term expiring on January 1, 2026.
The commission has seven members comprised of the chief justice of Kentucky (who also serves as chair), two lawyers elected by all the lawyers in their circuit/district and four Kentucky citizens who are appointed by the governor. The four citizens appointed by the governor must equally represent the two major political parties, so two must be Democrats and two must be Republicans. It is the responsibility of the commission to submit a list of three names to the governor and the governor must appoint a judge from this list of three.
The commission will be submitting names to fill the remaining term of 56th Circuit Court Judge C.A. “Woody” Woodall, III. He announced on January 10 he is retiring effective January 31, after being elected to the seat in 2006. His current term expires December 31.
The 56th Circuit consists of Caldwell, Livingston, Lyon and Trigg counties.
