A Cadiz woman was killed when police say she was walking along KY 93 and was hit by a pickup truck in Lyon County Monday morning.
State Police Post 1 spokeswoman Trooper Sarah Burgess says they received a call from a motorist in the 15,000 block of KY 93 just before 7:00 a.m. who reported they saw what appeared to be a body lying in a field near the roadway.
While on the scene, detectives say a man arrived and said that he may have been the one who struck the female. Troopers said the man reported he heard police were in the area working a fatality and he returned to the scene.
She says the initial investigation revealed 29-year old Katie Coulstring was walking north on KY 93 when she was hit by a northbound pickup truck driven by 58-year old Lynn Ballard of Eddyville. Coulstring was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lyon County Coroner.
Kentucky State Police were assisted on the scene by Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County EMS, Lyon County Coroner, and the State Highway Department.
Kentucky State Police are continuing to investigate the fatal collision.
