Pennyrile Electric Working to Fix Scattered Power Outages

Crews from Pennyrile Electric continue their work to restore power to parts of four counties that have had their service interrupted by this week’s ice storm.

Pennyrile Electric Vice President of Member Services and Communication Brent Gilkey said power has been restored to more than 9,000 members since the onset of the ice storm. As of late Friday afternoon, there were nearly 1,400 customers without power. The main areas affected are near Lamasco in Lyon County, near Prizer Point in Trigg County, near Cobb and Cerulean in Trigg and Caldwell counties, and near Kelly and Pennyrile Forest State Park in Christian County.

He was hopeful the remaining outages would be restored by Saturday night.

Instead, it was the weight of iced branches, and the ice itself, bringing down powerlines and removing their tether from the pole base.
