Electric power is back on for all Pennyrile Electric customers that were impacted by the ice storm that hit western Kentucky Wednesday night and Thursday.
Shortly after the ice began to accumulate on power lines and trees around the area Thursday, Pennyrile Electric customers began experiencing outages. More than 3,000 customers were without power at the height of the outages, with Pennyrile Electric and other line crews working long hours to repair lines and restore electric service. The Pennyrile Electric outage map indicates power was restored to all customers by 6:00 Saturday night.
When asked by the News Edge how this ice storm compared to 2009, Pennyrile Electric spokesman Brent Gilkey said the cooperative was not hit nearly as hard.
