Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland Partners With TVA To Fight Hunger

Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland is continuing its partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in addressing food insecurity for residents in their 42-county service area, including Christian, Caldwell, Lyon, Todd and Trigg counties.

Spokeswoman Holly Carlson with Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland says TVA is providing $25,000 to the organization to alleviate hunger and help provide access to nutritious food for those in need.

Executive Director of Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland, Jamie Sizemore said in a release, although they hope for the day when all of the residents in our community have enough to eat, many people face hunger — especially as we continue to experience the impacts of the pandemic. She expressed her gratitude for TVA’s shared commitment and its employees to help make life better for the people they jointly serve.

As a food bank, she added, they are able to optimize their food purchases to feed the most people possible, so monetary donations go a long way — but they are also grateful for the support they receive from community members who donate food. She noted all donations made a difference.

According to TVA Senior Manager Althea Jones, TVA is proud to continue its partnership with local food banks across the Tennessee Valley region in fiscal year 2022. She noted these partnerships help TVA to further its core mission to help make lives better.
