CCHD’s Brumfield Talks Transition Into Director Role

Retroactive to Monday, Devin Brumfield had the interim tag removed during a special-called Christian County Health Department board meeting — going from a place-holding director to earning the role in perpetuity.

Now, the Hopkinsville High School Class of 2004 alum, Hopkinsville Community College and Murray State business administration graduate has what he says is an easy transition into a job he loves.

In 2014, Brumfield came in to be CCHD’s Quality Improvement and Accreditation Coordinator, and in 2018 shifted into the Administrative Services role handling human resources and personnel matters.

At the time of the Bebout/Brumfield transition of authority, the 2021-22 school year was beginning — as was a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic with the “Omicron” variant.

Brumfield said there had already been a great relationship between he and Bebout, in handling all of the different duties that suddenly arrived in a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic.

In his words, he stated that the CCHD is one of the top health departments across the state — namely because of its staff — and that a different culture continues to cultivate a unique and new atmosphere.

He’s looking forward to growing in this new-old role, and there’s an expectation of not only continuing the providing of specific services, but finding new ways to help the people of Christian County and its surrounding cities.

The Christian County Health Department is tasked with identifying and diagnosing health issues and challenges that affect the community and develop strategies, policies, and programs that promote a healthy lifestyle.
