Four bills have been introduced in the Kentucky House to legalize sports betting with one of them directly addressing the ability to place bets in person or through mobile apps.

House Bill 606 was one of three sports gaming bills filed. State Representative Adam Koenig said a poll conducted recently showed more than 60-percent of people in the state are in favor of it.

Supporters of previous bills introduced in the general assembly estimated that legalizing sports wagering would generate about $22 million in annual revenue. Proponents say the measure is needed to stop Kentuckians from flocking to neighboring states that allow sports betting. Every bordering state except for Missouri allows sports wagering.
