Man Charged In Connection To Hopkinsville Murder

A Hopkinsville man has been charged in connection to a shooting on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville that killed a man Wednesday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 20-year-old Christian McKeel helped two juveniles execute the robbery of 19-year-old Alijah Watts and helped in luring him to the gas station then McKeel helped the juveniles leave the area after the shooting.

Police are still asking the community for help locating 16-year-old Joshua Cotton who is wanted for questioning in the murder.

Police say they were called to Casey’s General Store on Fort Campbell Boulevard for a report of shots fired and as they were responding they were told of a wreck on East 21st Street with a vehicle striking a home.

After they arrived they reportedly found that the driver of the car Watts had hit a second car and a truck before hitting a home on South Virginia Street.

Police say Watts had been shot in the abdomen at the gas station and was taken by ambulance to Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville where he later died from his injuries.

The driver and passenger in the second car were taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for injuries.

The crash and shooting happened just after 6 pm. McKeel is charged with complicity to murder.
