The 12th Annual Hopkinsville International Festival will be held in a live but virtual format this year when it returns at the end of the month.
Toby Hudson, Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Programs Coordinator, said plans are being finalized for the festival which will be held through a virtual format on social media.
click to download audioThe I-Fest live performances will be streamed on Facebook and replayed on Facebook as well as the Parks and Rec’s YouTube channel. All of the performance recordings will be saved and available for replay.
Tab Brockman, parks and recreation superintendent, said the reason the festival is virtual this year is a simple one.
click to download audioBrockman said the two-day lineup will feature talent from Nashville’s Global Education Center performing live from the Thomas Street Recreation Center. This year the performances will highlight Latin, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Indian and Brazilian song and dance.
click to download audioIn addition, local Indian groups will share dance performances on Friday and Saturday, which will also be streamed live from Thomas Street Rec Center.
Brockman said they are already gathering readings from around the world for the festival.
click to download audioThe Hopkinsville I-Fest is presented in conjunction with the Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission and funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Kentucky Arts Council.
The Friday, March 25th program will start at 5 pm and run to 8:30. The Saturday, March 26th program will start at 10:30 am and wrap up around 3:00.
