A Princeton man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges he attempted to receive material that contained child pornography nearly two years ago.
According to the indictment filed last week in U.S. District Court in Paducah, Jason Merrick was charged with attempted receipt of child pornography and the transfer of obscene material to a minor.
The complaint alleges Merrick attempted to receive material that contained child pornography over a computer in October and November of 2020. On October 29 of last year, the indictment said Merrick transferred obscene matter to a person under the age of 16.
As a result of the indictment, Merrick was ordered to forfeit property used in the crime including a cell phone, computer, and tablet.
If convicted, Merrick could face no less than five years and no more than 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
