Governor Appoints Redd To 56th Circuit Judge Vacancy

Governor Andy Beshear is appointing 56th District Judge James E. Redd to replace Circuit Judge C. A. Woodall who announced his retirement at the end of January.

Governor Beshear signed an executive order March 10 appointing Judge Redd to the Circuit Court Judge seat.  Redd is currently serving as one of two 56th District Judges along with Judge Natalie White.

Redd is the only candidate to file to seek the 56th Circuit Judge Seat in the May Primary Election.

Redd was one of three names submitted to Governor Andy Beshear last week by a special judicial nominating commission.  The commission also submitted the names of attorney and former Trigg County Attorney H. B, Quinn and Assistant 56th Commonwealth’s Attorney Jill Giordano.

Judge Redd says he will begin to work with Judge Woodall next week to start the transition to Circuit Judge.  He says there will likely be a formal investiture service planned for the near future where he will be formally sworn in.

Judge Redd’s appointment as Circuit Judge will create a vacancy on the 56th District Judge bench that will likely be filled by an interim judge until a new judge can be appointed by Governor Andy Beshear.
