Mention Of Resolution Comes In Bingham Case

Contemplation in resolution could be coming in the case of Keyona Bingham, who is currently charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter and violation against conditions of a bond release — following an April 7, 2020, fire on Jefferson Street in Cadiz that claimed the life of her two children.

Wednesday in Trigg County Circuit Court, Bingham made a brief appearance before Circuit Judge C.A. “Woody” Woodall III, in which a proxy for Bingham’s former public defender Mary Rohrer asked for a June pre-trial date to discuss possible resolution before the trial begins on July 20.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins seemed…surprised.

Bingham’s next appearance will be June 8.

When Bingham was last in court, Woodall heard the concerns of both Rohrer and Ovey-Wiggins, with Rohrer seeking to remove “undue prejudice” surrounding admitted evidence.

This evidence included the images of children’s bodies from the court, as well as any evidence left in the home on April 7 for illicit drug transactions. Bingham doesn’t have any pending charges regarding an alleged drug transaction or for any drug use, but Ovey-Wiggins noted that Bingham’s reported negligence and possible actions at the time of the house fire were direct in the Commonwealth’s case.

At the time, Woodall said he’d be reviewing any and all photos submitted to the jury for content and count.
