Walker Withdraws From Christian County Magistrates Race

In a release sent earlier this week to local media, Facebook, voters and other candidates, Mike Walker announced his withdrawal from the magisterial race in Christian County — citing a myriad of factors in the decision.

As a sitting member of the Christian County Public Schools Board of Education, Walker wrote that he didn’t want to leave his present responsibilities within CCPS — noting this was “such a critical time in the history” of the district.

He said the school board has unfinished business, and that he’d very much like to continue to steward this ongoing work while moving into the next phase of consolidation between two long-standing and proud, respected high schools into one.

Furthermore, Walker admitted having mixed feelings when he initially entered the magistrate conversation. When he first filed, no others had joined the conversation. Now, Russ Guffey has entered the race, and Walker endorsed Guffey as “the man for the job.”
