Clark & Adams Appointed To Serve 56th District

With Governor Andy Beshear having appointed 56th District Judge Jamus E. Redd to replace retiring 56th Circuit Judge C. A. Woodall, two emergency appointments have been made to help in Redd’s stead.

By the authority of Chief Justice John Minton Jr., Honorable Jill Clark and Honorable James Adams, both retired judges and well known in this area, have been assigned temporarily as “Special Judges” of the 56th District Court, Division 1, consisting of Caldwell, Livingston, Lyon and Trigg counties, with authority to preside over all matters pending as needed March 11 through April 30.

Redd was currently serving as one of two 56th District Judges along with Judge Natalie White. He was the only candidate to file to seek the 56th Circuit Judge Seat in the May Primary Election, and he was one of three names submitted to Beshear last week by a special judicial nominating commission.

The commission also submitted the names of attorney and former Trigg County Attorney H. B, Quinn and Assistant 56th Commonwealth’s Attorney Jill Giordano.

Following this interim from both Clark and Adams, a new judge will be appointed by Beshear.

Clark was elected to the 56th bench in 1998 as the first female district judge for the circuit. She retired Dec. 31, 2018.

Adams also retired in December 2018. Then Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks presented Judge Adams with a proclamation declaring December 27 as “Judge James G. Adams Jr. Day” along with a key to the city.
