U.S. Congressman James Comer advocated for the needs of the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area in an Oversight Committee meeting held in Washington D.C. on Wednesday.

Comer gave the committee a brief history and overview of LBL, which is comprised of 170,000 acres and is a significant destination in the 1st District for local residents and tourists. Unfortunately, he added, LBL has suffered from several deferred maintenance projects, chronic understaffing and a shortage of law enforcement to cover the recreational area with the issues being compounded by the LBL Advisory Board’s recent expired charter.
