During this past Monday’s meeting, the Trigg County Fiscal Court took its first steps toward supporting the construction of a new walking trail at the Trigg County Recreation Complex — one that could someday wrap around the entire property.
Magistrate Mike Wright, also a representative on the Parks & Recreation Board, noted that the organization has already approved $10,000 of its funds to give the project a foundational piece.
In its first phase, the trail would begin at the big tree near the Lexi Bush Convention Center, run parallel with Complex Road and the tree line, curve all the way to the multipurpose building — and then once again touch Complex Road.
Wright said it would be a high-quality trail that would require little maintenance after installation.
Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander said he fully supports the idea, but wanted to bring it before the court with the notion that $10,000 might not go very far to the project’s fruition.
It would all depend on the bidding process for the work.
Magistrate Larry Lawrence asked what the path would potentially look like.
Among its other focal points, Parks and Recreation officials recently made some contributions to both the “Hometown Heroes” banner project and the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class rooftop campaign for the Cadiz Farmers’ Market.
