Three suspects charged in connection to the fatal shooting of a Hopkinsville man in October were indicted by the Christian County Grand Jury Friday.
A true bill was returned on 25-year old Cortez Hairston, Jr., of Hopkinsville, for murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
23-year old Dekorian Daniel and 24-year old Jaila B. Sherrod, both of Hopkinsville, were indicted on a charge of complicity to murder. The grand jury also returned a separate true bill on Daniel from an incident on April 4th for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property (firearm), and trafficking in marijuana less than 8 ounces, 1st offense, while armed.
According to Hopkinsville Police, Hairston allegedly shot 23-year old Adrian Acree multiple times in the middle of the road and then fled the area before police arrived at the scene.
Police said they received the call around 1:00 the morning of October 26th for a report of a man that had been assaulted. Upon arrival, officers found Acree’s body in the roadway on Jones Street near the intersection of Sharpe Street.
Sherrod and Daniel were arrested on April 5th in connection to the murder, which police said they helped plan. Hairston turned himself in Thursday and was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
