The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is hosting a book signing for newly-published author Kathy Des Jardins and her first-ever book, “Mama Said.”
Set for 1-3 p.m. Monday, April 25 on the library’s first floor, “Mama Said” honors her Christian County roots with a reimagined version of Hopkinsville. It follows the story of disc jockey Joy Faye Savoy, who often makes good-natured digs at her bossy mother, and suddenly finds her locally-popular radio show becomes syndicated for all of the world to hear.
The novel also revisits two specific themes well-woven in Des Jardins’ life: tragicomedy and classic country music.
During the event, Des Jardins will discuss her book and answer questions from the public. Copies of “Mama Said” will be available for purchase and signing.
Owner of a publication firm in metro Atlanta and member of the Atlanta Writers Club and Roswell Reads, Des Jardins is a former newspaper reporter, columnist and editor. Her first-ever journalism award came on the tail of a country concert review.
Winner of two Louisiana Press Association “Best Regular Columnist” awards and four Louisiana Press Women Sweepstakes Awards, she’s also been honored by the Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press Newspaper Contests and the United Press International Newspapers of Louisiana. She has also received California Press Women’s Outstanding Excellence Award and USTA Georgia’s Media Excellence Award.
