A wallet stolen on April 10th in Hopkinsville led to the arrest of a Florida man who is allegedly involved with a gang that travel the United States committing these kinds of crimes.
Hopkinsville Police say Jorge Valero of Deerfield Beach, Florida, took a wallet in Hopkinsville and used the victim’s debit cards to make multiple purchases of gift cards and electronics totaling thousands of dollars at Walmart and Game Stop.
The investigation led to Geneva, Illinois, where Valero was in the area possibly committing more thefts and fraudulent activity. Geneva Police Department was able to locate Valero who had just reportedly stolen another wallet moments before he was arrested.
After a search of his belongings, police say Valero was found to have approximately $7,000 in brand new electronics along with 30 prepaid gift cards which all are believed to have been obtained fraudulently.
Police say Valero is believed to be a part of the Felony Lane Gang who are out of South Florida and travel the United States to commit these types of crimes.
