A Hopkinsville man was indicted for murder Friday after the body of a Beaver Dam man was found inside a home on North McPherson Avenue in March.

The Christian County Grand Jury returned a true bill for 31-year old Lance Colby Bowden in the death of 31-year old John Kellems.

Hopkinsville Police said a woman called law enforcement just before 10:00 on the night of March 13 for a person, later identified as Kellems, that was possibly deceased inside her home. Kellems was pronounced dead by the Christian County Coroner’s Office. According to the indictment, Bowden allegedly used a knife to cut Kellems’s throat.

Bowden was taken into custody the next day after a stolen vehicle investigation. He was lodged in the Christian County Jail and charged with murder after he was incarcerated.
