More Details Released In Hopkinsville Pursuit

More details have been released about a pursuit that started on Eagle Way in the area of Eagle Cove Drive in Hopkinsville that led to a wreck involving law enforcement Thursday morning.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they attempted to stop a car for a headlight violation and the driver 20-year-old Taymeo Machado fled leading them on a high-speed pursuit onto Pennyrile Parkway and several Hopkinsville roads.

During the pursuit, Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Hoffman along with Hopkinsville Police Officer Jaritt Beasley’s vehicles collided at the intersection of South Main Street and East 9th Street.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for injuries. Beasley was treated and released but Hoffman was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for further treatment.

Machado and his passenger 23-year-old Dalton Dodd were reportedly stopped after driving through some yards and coming to a stop behind the baseball fields at Hopkinsville Middle School.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say a gun and drugs were located inside Machado’s vehicle.

Machado and Dodd were both arrested and charged with possession of opiates and carrying a concealed weapon.

Machado was also charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, speeding, disregarding a stop sign, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, failure to maintain required insurance, failure to dim headlights, reckless driving, and disregarding a traffic light.
