Governor Andy Beshear has appointed Brandon Knoth to fill the remainder of the vacant district judge term in the 56th Judicial District.
Friday’s announcement comes after Knoth was the top vote-getter in a three-way primary for the seat Tuesday and received more votes than his two opponents combined.
Knoth said it’s been a good week.

click to download audioKnoth, who was raised in Lyon County and lives in Caldwell County, said his familiarity with the court system in the four-county district and its personnel will help his early transition.
click to download audioKnoth will again appear on the ballot in the November general election in the race for the same district judge position but now for a four-year term. He will face Matt Schalk, who finished second to Knoth in the primary election by over 2,300 votes. Knoth said the balancing act of being both a judge and a candidate will be a tough one but one he looks forward to.

The 56th judicial district has two district judges and will soon have a second circuit judge following action by the general assembly earlier this year.
