Hopkinsville City Council will consider the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 budget that includes a 5-percent cost of living increase for city employees after action by the Committee of the Whole at Thursday night’s meeting.
The committee discussed the $43.1 million budget proposed by Mayor Wendell Lynch last week. The mayor said at the Committee of the Whole meeting prior to the discussion that the proposed budget includes a 5% cost of living increase along with an increase in the pension fund.

click to download audioThe committee approved the operational budget after hearing from each of the city’s departments regarding any changes or increases from last year’s budget.
The committee also heard an update regarding downtown parking. Public Works Administrator Mike Perry said that currently there are 304 parking spaces in the downtown area, which he feels is sufficient.
