Two men are charged with criminal abuse after an investigation in Trigg County Friday.
Trigg County Sheriff’s deputies say 26-year-old Joseph Knight who had active warrants was found passed out in a car in the driveway of a home where two children under 6-years-old were inside alone.
Deputies say the front door to the house was open and the house was in a poor and filthy condition. Knight claimed only one child was inside but a second walked out of the home shortly after.
The children were reportedly surrounded by trash, dirty diapers, liquor bottles, and a rifle on the couch next to one of the children. Deputies say 45 minutes after the investigation started the father of the children 25-year-old Sean Meador arrived home stating he left the kids in the care of Knight.
Knight and Meador were both arrested and charged with second-degree criminal abuse of a child under 12-years-old and public intoxication.
Knight was also found to have warrants for failure to appear.
