For the past several years, the city of Lafayette has celebrated “Lafayette Day”, where the small community of 200 in southwestern Christian County can come together to celebrate their town.
Brick Oven Grill owner Becky East says this year’s celebration will be a larger affair than in the past.

Lafayette Day is free and there is no charge for a vendor spot or carnival games.
East says current and former residents have told stories about Lafayette for past celebrations, and this year’s event will still feature the storytelling.
click to download audioLafayette was first settled around 1820 and named after Revolutionary War hero Marquis de Lafayette, the French military officer who commanded American troops in several battles, including the siege of Yorktown.
Lafayette Day will take place Saturday, starting at noon.
