Westerfield Appointed To Efficiency Task Force

3rd District State Senator Whitney Westerfield

Kentucky’s Senate leadership recently announced the appointment of 3rd District State Senator Whitney Westerfield to the newly formed Executive Efficiency Task Force. The task force will conduct business through the 2022 Interim Session of the Kentucky General Assembly.

Westerfield’s office says the task force will study the effectiveness of current executive branch cabinet working procedures for administering services to the Commonwealth’s citizens.

In the statement, Westerfield says for all the good that government can do, it has become too big, cumbersome, and inefficient, and this task force is going to look critically at our current cabinet an agency structure and how they deliver essential services to the people who need it the most.

The task force will report findings to the Legislative Research Commission by December 1, 2022, for referral to the appropriate standing committee with jurisdiction over the policy area.

State officials indicate the 2022 Interim Session will serve as a primer for the 2023 Regular Session of the Kentucky General Assembly, as legislative efforts in the months ahead will be a critical element in the crafting of potential legislation.

Westerfield represents Caldwell, Christian and Muhlenberg counties.
