Hopkinsville Man And Woman Charged After Investigation Into Mistreatment Of Animals

A dog was found seizing due to heat stroke on Cedar Street in Hopkinsville Monday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they were called to the home for a dog with no water or shelter and found one dog seizing from heat stroke that later died and two others without water or shelter.

33-year-old Mason Lewis reportedly took ownership of the dog that died and 31-year-old Sierra Lewis claimed to own one of the dogs but said her kids owned the third.

Police say the temperature was 95 degrees and all three dogs were outside. Mason Lewis was cited for torture of a dog or cat and Sierra Lewis was charged with second-degree cruelty to animals.
