Milder Temps, Weekend Rain Likely

 

Western Kentucky weather has returned to more seasonal temperatures this week with some much-needed rain projected for the weekend.

Weather Edge forecaster David Powell said the heat we saw the past two weeks that prompted excessive heat warnings appears to be behind us.

click to download audioTemperatures in the mid-80s will be around for the first part of the week with Powell noting Thursday may be the hottest day of the week.

click to download audioMeanwhile, rainfall that was expected in the area Sunday moved to the south and left western Kentucky without rain once again. With rain for the month over an inch and a quarter below normal, Powell says we are reaching abnormally high levels of dry weather.

click to download audioPowell says it may be a good idea to keep an eye on the Gulf of Mexico. With the hurricane season underway, he says those tropical depressions could bring rain to the area.

click to download audioWithin the next week, the average high temperature will reach 90 degrees and remain there for most of July and August.
