A mural that helps tell the story of native Americans and will serve as a centerpiece for this year’s Big Read project was unveiled Friday at Trail of Tears Park in Hopkinsville.
The mural was painted on the wall of the storage shed beside the pow wow arena at the Trail of Tears park on Pembroke Road. Pennyroyal Arts Council Youth Art Coordinator Molly Campbell says the building has been transformed in a matter of one week.

Artist Jennifer Bowman says the mural came together after talking with Christina Scott, who oversees Trail of Tears Park.
Scott told the twelve young people that painted the mural their work will be shared around the country.
The names of the twelve young people who helped paint the mural will be added by artist Jennifer Bowman in the near future.
