Former Trigg County Deputy Sheriff David Tomlinson is one of four people who have filed an intent to appear on the ballot as a write-in candidate in the sheriff’s race this November.
Tomlinson is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and has had previous law enforcement stops in Oak Grove and Guthrie over the past two decades before joining the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office in 2016.
He thought his career in law enforcement was over when newly appointed Sheriff Aaron Acree did not retain him and most of the department’s deputies in 2020. However, he says a calling from above has led him to seek a return to law enforcement.

He is one of four people seeking the office of Trigg County sheriff via the write-in route. Mike Sandbrink, Mike Manzanares, and Ronnie Mazac have also filed their intent to be write-in candidates this November. Sheriff Aaron Acree will be the only candidate whose name will appear on the ballot.
